ICEYE is hiring a GIS Operational Analyst

About the Role

ICEYE is looking for a GIS Operational Analyst to contribute to our dynamic Earth Observation environment. In this role, you will be responsible for real-time geospatial data collection, interpretation, and visualization to monitor natural catastrophes, with a focus on performing spatial operations to analyze events like floods and support critical decision-making.

What You'll Do

  • Activate, verify, and deliver analysis output to customers following SOPs and service level agreements.
  • Participate in live operations, conducting real-time flood analysis and delivery while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to meeting KPIs, monitor metrics, and keep tools updated with accurate progress and status.
  • Follow standard processes and procedures to ensure product quality and consistency.
  • Manage your own workload and cooperate with the Solutions Delivery Manager on planning.
  • Proactively raise issues and suggest resolutions, resolving small-scale operational issues independently.
  • Provide updates on progress and issues, communicate effectively with the team, and assist in organizing daily standups.
  • Perform quality checks and provide feedback on errors in analysis and delivery.
  • Suggest improvements and collaborate on implementing them.
  • Contribute to achieving the team's objectives.
  • Own and follow an agreed personal development plan.
  • Maintain accurate records of work progress, decisions, and changes for reporting.
  • Provide clear information to internal teams on specific deliverables and follow established customer communication processes.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geography, Geomatics, GIS, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of GIS experience.
  • Extensive experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing tools for geospatial analysis and data visualization.
  • Strong understanding of geospatial concepts, coordinate systems, cartography, and spatial analysis techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to organize and deliver time-critical work.
  • Demonstrated drive for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively during high-stress situations and emergency response operations.
  • A collaborative mindset to actively support team goals.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in an operational GIS role.
  • Knowledge or experience with natural catastrophes.
  • Python scripting experience.
  • AWS CLI experience.
  • SAR experience.
  • Experience with database principles, including querying and integrating data using PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with real-time geospatial data sources and tools for monitoring natural disasters.

Work Mode

This is a remote position open to candidates based in Tokyo, Japan or Australia.
