About the Role

As a Geospatial Analyst, you will play a key role in processing and validating remote sensing data to support coastal environmental management. Your primary focus will be on land cover datasets, including quality control, classification, and the integration of lidar, aerial imagery, and Digital Elevation Models. You'll ensure data accuracy, contribute to the development of geospatial products, and support the publication of map services used in coastal analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality assurance on land cover and elevation datasets
  • Support land cover classification using lidar, satellite, and aerial imagery
  • Process and compile ancillary data to support mapping and validation efforts
  • Run automated workflows to generate geospatial outputs
  • Assist in publishing and maintaining web-based map services
  • Create detailed metadata records for data transparency and compliance
  • Contribute to the development of interactive tools such as StoryMaps and web applications
  • Support updates to land cover change visualization platforms

Qualifications

A Master’s degree in geography, GIS, remote sensing, or a related field is required, or alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with at least six years of relevant experience. You should have foundational knowledge in land cover mapping techniques, elevation data analysis, and orthoimagery interpretation. Experience with both raster and vector data models across desktop and web platforms is essential.

Familiarity with geospatial software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Erdas Imagine, Global Mapper, eCognition, or FeatureAnalyst is expected. Prior work with land cover or change detection projects is beneficial.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency in Python for automating GIS processes
  • Experience managing geospatial data and services in cloud environments
  • Exposure to AI-based methods for land cover classification
  • Understanding of coastal systems, hazards, and inundation modeling
  • Background in coastal zone management or related environmental science
