Mass General Brigham is hiring a Genetic Counselor to join the Center for Fetal Medicine and Reproductive Genetics (CFMRG) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In this role, you will provide essential counseling on reproductive and prenatal genetic issues, coordinate complex testing, and act as a knowledgeable resource for patients and medical staff during stressful and sensitive times.

What You'll Do

• Counsel patients and families on reproductive and prenatal genetic issues, including carrier screening, aneuploidy screening, diagnostic testing, and preimplantation genetic testing (PGT).
• Screen and interview patients to evaluate detailed medical and family history information.
• Recommend and coordinate additional testing and referrals with referring providers, outside hospital facilities, and genetic testing laboratories.
• Implement and coordinate special programs as needed to accommodate patients and providers.
• Perform administrative record keeping, including chart preparation, records requests, maintenance of statistics, and thorough documentation of patient encounters.
• Develop and maintain effective, supportive relationships with patients, CFMRG staff, and other referring providers.
• Provide education and consultation to referring providers as needed.
• Actively update your knowledge of current trends and developments in the field through professional literature and educational meetings.
• Serve as a primary resource to patients, obstetrical care providers, and other clinicians on genetic counseling issues.
• Interact with the Center for Advanced Molecular Diagnostics (CAMD) and external laboratories, communicating both normal and abnormal results to patients and providers.
• Participate in research projects including patient recruitment, clinical data abstraction, and data entry.
• For counselors at satellite sites, assume the role of clinic coordinator, schedule patients, and work with referring medical staff to ensure appropriate referrals.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned, including back-up coverage for other counselors.

What We're Looking For

• Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling
• State Genetic Counselor License

Nice to Have

• 1-2 years of genetics experience
