About the Role

Systems Application & Technologies Inc is hiring a General Maintenance Worker for a part-time seasonal position (30 hours per week from roughly June 2 through October 31) at our PTR site on Mountain Home Air Force Base near Bruneau, ID. In this hands-on role, you will perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings across multiple trades.

What You'll Do

  • Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings.
  • Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Paint structures and equipment.
  • Repair or replace concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
  • Replace damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Hang doors and install door locks.
  • Replace broken window panes.
  • Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Repair, replace, or build targets.
  • Inspect, service, and operate assigned firefighting vehicles.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on vehicles, heavy equipment, water pumps, and small gasoline engines.
  • Document services, repairs, and discrepancies on vehicle forms.
  • Perform wild land fire suppression within the boundaries of the range.
  • Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Use and maintain common hand and power tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
  • Operate heavy equipment to build or repair gravel roads, fire breaks, target area earthen berms, and place or remove targets.
  • Repair, replace, or build Bureau of Land Management-approved barbwire fencing.
  • Provide grounds keeping services such as landscaping and debris removal.
  • Perform general cleaning of buildings or properties.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of applicable building and safety code requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of approved methods and practices for tool, machinery, and equipment maintenance.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow operator manuals.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Current Driver’s License; must be able to be insured through the company’s vehicle insurance policy.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Secret Clearance prior to start date and maintain it throughout employment.
  • Ability to pass background screening including SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in firefighting, construction, or vehicle maintenance.
  • Certificates in FEMA I-100, S-190, and S-130.
