APAC Mississippi, Inc., a CRH company, is looking for a General Laborer to join our team. In this role, you will perform a variety of construction duties to assist our highway, utility, grade, or on-site plant crews, contributing directly to our infrastructure projects.
What You'll Do
- Prepare ground surfaces for road building, remove debris, and operate ground compactors.
- Level and rake dirt, set string markers and safety barricades.
- Prepare manhole covers and water lines, and assist behind a paver with asphalt.
- Clean tools and equipment.
- Hand shovel to prepare trenches for pipes and utility lines.
- Attach trench boxes and pipes to chains for lifting, guide pipes into place, and connect them with tools.
- Build couplings and joints, cut pipe to size, and set up laser level tripods.
- Perform groundwork with hand shovel and rake, and may cut concrete with a saw.
- Remove and replace sewer and manhole castings, and assist with grading tasks.
- Perform machinery maintenance and repairs, unplug and shovel off conveyors, and change out screens and liners.
- Set up and take down crusher machinery, keep the work area clean.
- Participate in daily and weekly safety meetings.
- Assist in plant production of materials, stockpile materials, and feed the hot plant efficiently.
- Operate various equipment if trained, which may include a paver, roller, backhoe, water truck, skid steer, loader, or excavator.
