Cloud Chamber Montreal is looking for a Gameplay Engineer to bridge technical execution and creative vision for our next BioShock project. You will help design captivating and immersive game systems that support our creative ambitions, working closely with a talented development team to ensure the game experience is as impactful as it looks.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate closely and constructively with design and art teams to realize our creative ambitions.
- Design architecture and coordinate implementation of new gameplay systems and features, such as player actions, camera, and weapons.
- Work within Unreal Engine 5, adapting existing systems and building new technologies to meet the project's technical and creative goals.
- Maintain constant awareness of developments and technological advancements in the video game industry.
- Identify technical or development risks and obstacles, and develop solutions to overcome them.
- Work in close partnership with design, engineering, animation, and audio teams to advance project goals.
What We're Looking For
- More than 3 years of experience in the industry or a related field.
- Prior experience as a contributor within a gameplay engineering team.
- Strong 3D math skills and experience with C/C++ languages.
- Mastery of the C/C++ programming language accompanied by excellent knowledge of object-oriented design principles.
- Commitment to code quality, documentation, and rigorous testing procedures.
- Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Deep understanding of current data structures, algorithms, and methodologies.
- Experience working with player-centric systems, such as character, camera, and controls (3Cs).
- Development experience on current-generation consoles.
- Professional proficiency in French required.
- Professional proficiency in English required to collaborate effectively with teams located in the United States.
Nice to Have
- Strong understanding and familiarity with current Unreal Engine technology is highly desirable.
