Freelance English to Hmong Medical Benefits Translator
Role Overview
We are looking for experienced freelance linguists who are fluent in both English and Hmong to support translation and proofreading projects in the medical benefits and insurance industries. This is a remote, project-based position requiring close collaboration with project managers and adherence to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate technical and administrative content from English into Hmong, focusing on medical benefits and insurance documentation
- Review and refine translated materials to ensure linguistic accuracy and consistency
- Work closely with project teams to meet delivery timelines
- Finalize content according to client specifications prior to submission
- Follow direction from assigned managers and incorporate feedback as needed
Required Qualifications
- Native or near-native proficiency in both English and Hmong, with exceptional writing skills in Hmong
- Proven experience translating in the medical benefits or insurance domain
- Strong command of grammar, spelling, and technical terminology
- Ability to deliver high-quality work under time constraints
- Willingness to complete a confidentiality agreement
- Must pass free translation and proofreading assessments
- Must pass a background verification process
- One of the following: a degree in Translation, Linguistics, or Language Studies; two years of professional translation experience with a college degree; five years of experience without a degree; or a government-issued translation competency certificate
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates located in Asian time zones are preferred
Work Environment
This is a fully remote role with no location restrictions. Work can be conducted from any country, provided deadlines are met according to project schedules.
Compensation
Applicants will be asked to specify their preferred per-word translation rate and hourly proofreading rate in USD when submitting their CV. Rates will be evaluated based on experience, qualifications, and market standards.
