Shae Group is looking for a Fractional CTO / AI Strategy Council member to provide high-leverage advisory guidance on AI product decisions. You will improve decision speed, model quality, and platform reliability through strategic counsel and the production of key technical artifacts.
What You'll Do
- Run monthly strategy clinics, design reviews, and red-team sessions.
- Produce ADRs, threat models, and safety/evaluation audit reports.
- Produce high-leverage artifacts including reference architectures, guardrail policies, vendor RFPs, and buy/build/partner matrices.
- Be on-call for critical decisions and provide async ADR reviews.
- Contribute to a searchable knowledge base of decisions and outputs.
- Advise on model quality, reliability, and cost/latency tradeoffs.
- Recommend monitoring, evaluation, and retraining guardrails.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years in senior technical leadership roles such as CTO, Head of AI, or Distinguished Engineer.
- Proven experience with production AI/ML at scale.
- Proven experience in system design, safety/threat modelling, model/evaluation frameworks, or shipping LLM/agent features.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- History of producing decision-ready artifacts such as ADRs, diagrams, and audits.
Nice to Have
- Deep experience in regulated health or clinical AI, including privacy, DPIA, and audit trails.
- Prior fractional/advisory or board-level experience advising engineering or AI teams.
