Second Front Systems is looking for a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead company-wide financial planning, budgeting, and strategic analysis. You will be a key thought partner to the CFO and senior leadership, guiding decision-making and ensuring the company scales with clarity and discipline.
What You'll Do
- Lead company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning.
- Partner with department leaders to track performance, optimize spend, and align resource allocation with strategic goals.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and models to monitor KPIs, cash flow, and unit economics.
- Drive board and investor reporting with clear, data-driven narratives.
- Own monthly variance analysis and reporting packages.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial systems, tools, and workflows.
- Build and mentor a high-performing FP&A function as the company scales.
What We're Looking For
- U.S. citizenship due to government contract requirements.
- Reside in one of the approved hiring hubs: DC/Maryland/Virginia, Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, NC, Denver/Colorado Springs, CO, Dallas/Fort Worth, TX.
- Ability to translate complex financial data into clear business insights.
- Ability to influence cross-functional leaders with a strong analytical point of view.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguity-tolerant, early-stage environment.
- 8+ years of experience in FP&A, investment banking, consulting, or similar roles.
Nice to Have
- Experience leading FP&A for a high-growth SaaS or technology company (Series B–D+ preferred).
- Experience building and maintaining complex financial models.
- Experience working directly with C-suite leaders and investors.
- Experience analyzing ARR, burn, CAC, LTV, Rule of 40, and SaaS cohort dynamics.
- Experience implementing and using FP&A tools (e.g., Mosaic, Pigment, Cube, NetSuite Planning).
- SaaS startup experience highly preferred.
- Familiarity with government contracting or dual-use tech models is a plus.
- MBA or CPA/CFA preferred but not required.
- Have a strong interest in matters of national security.
