Responsibilities
- Handle paperwork related to FMLA and Short Term Disability claims.
- Engage with patients and physician coordinators regarding disability and FMLA documentation using a positive, service-focused approach.
- Manage client requests for medical records while following HIPAA and HITECH compliance protocols.
- Complete disability and leave forms using standardized responses tailored to medical specialty types.
- Respond to incoming calls, manage multiple call lines, and log call details in an Excel tracker with a focus on courteous and attentive service.
- Review and process all requests for protected health information (PHI) to confirm validity.
- Ensure timely completion of patient disability forms within 5 to 7 days of payment receipt.
- Retrieve patient forms and PHI requests daily for billing purposes and upload them to RMS.
- Build and sustain professional connections with all client accounts.
- Track EMR accounts to confirm all requests are received and processed within required deadlines.
- Confirm patient identities using verified identifying information.
- Perform quality checks on incoming PHI submissions to safeguard patient privacy.
- Confirm contact details of requestors, including fax numbers or mailing addresses.
- Maintain and update an Accounting of Disclosure Log for every release of medical records.
- Deliver compassionate and thorough support to patients and their representatives.
