About the Role

The Ohio Attorney General's Office is seeking an experienced Forensic Accountant to join the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI). In this hybrid role, you will conduct complex financial investigations, analyze fraud, and provide critical support to law enforcement teams. The position requires frequent travel and may be based in London, Richfield, Boardman, Athens, or Bowling Green, Ohio.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct special financial investigations and analyze fraud-related issues.
  • Identify suspicious transactions, entities, and activities to uncover new leads.
  • Prepare high-quality final reports and other communications in accordance with professional standards.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with agency management and staff regarding investigations.
  • Apply relevant professional accounting standards and fraud detection techniques to complex cases.
  • Assist the Forensic Accounting Supervisor with special projects and research on issues such as money laundering and asset tracking.
  • Process investigation requests and advise the Supervisor on relevant facts.
  • Testify in court as an expert witness.

What We're Looking For

  • Licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Bachelor's degree in Audit, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • At least four years of full-time work experience as a forensic accountant, auditor, accountant, or investigator.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and the ability to work independently on complex financial investigations.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Valid Driver's license.

You will be part of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Section within the Ohio Attorney General's Office, reporting directly to a Forensic Accounting Supervisor.

Work Mode

This is a hybrid position requiring frequent travel. You may be based in one of the following Ohio locations: London, Richfield, Boardman, Athens, or Bowling Green.
