The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality is hiring a Foreman 1, 2, or 3 (Plumber) to oversee essential plumbing operations. In this role, you will be responsible for executing routine, preventative, and emergency plumbing work orders while ensuring adherence to all environmental, safety, and health regulations.
What You'll Do
- Adhere to all safety precautions and wear appropriate protective equipment.
- Execute routine, preventative, and emergency plumbing work orders.
- Inspect, repair, and adjust piping and tubing connected to steam pumps, air compressors, water pumps, and heaters.
- Repair and replace worn plumbing fixtures, leaking faucets, and open clogged drains.
- Assist with maintaining inspections on backflow preventers, oil water separators, lift stations, and eyewash stations.
- Coordinate maintenance of water, sewage, natural gas distribution systems with the Navy and local utility companies.
- Inspect, verify, and document completion of work orders and preventative maintenance using Integrated Engineering Management System (IEMS).
- Report all missed maintenance and ensure maintenance is properly closed out or forwarded to the schedule.
- Coordinate with vendors to purchase equipment and supplies.
- Contact contractors to receive bids, quotes, or estimates.
- Work with LA ANG building managers to identify facility preventative maintenance and other problems.
- Ensure compliance of environmental, safety, and health concerns IAW all ANG, AF, State and Federal Instructions.
- Manage State tools IAW LA ANG and AF instructions.
- Assist in the repair of facilities with various semi-skilled trades in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning and heating.
- Work with minimal guidance, instruction, or supervision.
What We're Looking For
- Must have a valid Driver's License, Social Security Card and Birth Certificate.
- Must be available to report to duty during emergency or disaster situations for extended hours over an extended period of time.
- Must meet physical requirements to perform functions of the position.
- Must attend/complete all Louisiana Military Department (LMD) annual training and other training required for the position.
- Must adhere to the Code of Ethics and foster a Sexual Harassment-Free Environment.
- Thorough working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and other technology skills as required.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with peers, superiors and guardsmen.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with agency personnel and the public.
- Solid knowledge and understanding in the areas of plumbing maintenance tasks.
- Ability to organize tasks and prioritize duties for preventive, routine, and emergency plumbing maintenance tasks.
- All LMD positions require in-office attendance. This is not a remote position.
- Salary is paid by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) / Direct Deposit Only. A checking or savings account is required for employment.
- For positions requiring computer/email access selected applicant must qualify to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) Card and maintain eligibility.
- LMD is a substance abuse and drug free workplace. The selected applicant must pass a pre-employment background investigation and pre-employment drug test. Thereafter, all employees are subject to random drug testing.
- To become an employee of the LMD you must be a current member of the Louisiana National Guard or eligible for membership in the Louisiana State Guard.
- The selected applicant must pass a pre-employment criminal background investigation prior to employment.
