Responsibilities
- Manage the complete Financial Crime and Onboarding Quality Control framework, covering standards, calibration, and escalations.
- Establish and uphold the Quality Control methodology, including sampling, scoring, and documentation, aligned with policy, regulatory guidance, and risk tolerance.
- Address identified deficiencies and financial crime risks by ensuring prompt remediation and clear accountability.
- Analyze Quality Control results, implement corrective measures, and maintain audit and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct thorough quality assessments of Fraud, Transaction Monitoring, and Know Your Customer processes across various risk levels.
- Evaluate accuracy and consistency against Quality Control checklists, scoring criteria, internal policies, and regulatory standards.
- Use a risk-based approach in reviews to detect inconsistencies and potential financial crime threats.
- Ensure all casework adheres to internal and external benchmarks and facilitate discussions on findings.
- Collaborate with the Financial Crime team to complete reviews and processes on time, aiding in workload prioritization to achieve team goals.
- Offer constructive feedback and coaching to team members.
- Identify recurring problems, escalation patterns, and suggest solutions at operational and technological levels.
- Assist in developing quality standards, guidance materials, and training programs.
- Interact with Onboarding and Financial Crime Teams, including investigators, managers, and executives.
- Clearly explain and defend Quality Control decisions, especially when questioned.
- Foster strong working relationships to promote a cooperative environment.
- Contribute to process improvements and efficiency efforts within the team.
- Stay informed on UK and EU legal developments to support functional changes.
- Provide input on process enhancements, policy revisions, control frameworks, and system upgrades.
- Support the execution of regulatory or internal change projects.
Requirements
- Experience leading a Quality Control function in a FinTech or startup setting.
- Background as a financial crime investigator or analyst.
- Skill in managing large datasets and presenting key insights.
- Ability to communicate effectively with important stakeholders.
