Workana is seeking a Financial Controller to bring structure, accuracy, and clear accounting standards to our Finance practice. This is an individual contributor role with high exposure to our CFO and Finance Manager, serving as the technical reference for accounting topics to ensure our financials are accurate, consistent, and ready for external review.
What You'll Do
- Own the accounting cycle end-to-end, ensuring accurate and timely monthly closings.
- Prepare and maintain audit-ready financial statements and supporting documentation.
- Implement and improve accounting policies, controls, and standardized processes.
- Identify inconsistencies or risks early and propose corrective actions based on solid criteria.
- Work closely with Finance leadership to ensure alignment between accounting data and business decisions.
- Collaborate with the rest of the team to elevate the overall technical bar.
- Support operational improvements through automation (Excel, scripts, or simple tools).
- Ensure compliance with applicable legal, tax, and regulatory requirements, coordinating with legal advisors when needed and maintaining documentation that supports audit and regulatory reviews.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, controlling, or audit roles.
- Strong command of the full accounting cycle, including reconciliations, adjustments, provisions, and intercompany.
- Experience preparing or supporting external audits.
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles.
- Highly organized, rigorous, and able to build structure where processes are still maturing.
- Comfortable working autonomously in a remote, fast-moving environment.
- Ability to communicate technical topics clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and motivated by improving processes rather than maintaining the status quo.
Nice to Have
- Audit experience (internal or Big4 is a plus).
- IFRS or US GAAP exposure.
- SQL basics.
