About the Role

Washington University in St. Louis is hiring a Financial Accounting Assistant to join the Obstetrics and Gynecology department. In this remote role, you will assist in preparing financial reports, forecasts, and budgets, playing a key part in the department’s fiscal health and planning.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in data collection and reporting according to established accounting procedures.
  • Utilize and report data within the organization’s cost accounting system.
  • Compile financial, operating, and special reports or studies as directed.
  • Prepare analyses of ongoing and proposed projects, including costing and financial projection models.
  • Assist in developing short- and long-term strategic financial operational plans.
  • Verify department accounting record entries, journals, and postings.
  • Explain organizational policies and procedures to department finance staff as required.
  • Act as backup for department accounting and purchasing functions.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience that substitutes for it.
  • 1+ year of financial work experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of budgeting methods and financial modeling.
  • Proficiency with cost accounting systems and financial software.
  • Skill in preparing financial reports and developing financial plans.
  • Familiarity with statistical methods and organizational policies & procedures.
  • Strong spreadsheet skills.

  • Compensation: $19.29 - $29.91 per hour.
