Role Description: The Financial Accountant (CPA) will be instrumental in reconstructing and managing organizational financial operations. Initial responsibilities include rebuilding historical financial records, resolving intercompany balances, and standardizing documentation. The role will progressively expand to oversee month-end processes, multi-entity consolidations, and structured reporting. The ideal candidate possesses robust technical accounting expertise, diverse industry experience, and a proactive service-oriented approach, with familiarity in Australian and US compliance, ecommerce, ERP systems, and multicurrency operations. Key Responsibilities: - Reconcile and restore historical financial ledgers and intercompany accounts - Standardize chart of accounts and ledger structures - Develop and maintain consistent workpapers and audit trails - Support CFO with forensic reviews and documentation - Execute month-end close and reconciliation cycles - Manage multi-entity consolidations and elimination entries - Maintain ERP and inventory accounting platforms - Prepare structured reporting for management and audit - Support finance frameworks for expansion into new jurisdictions Required Skills and Qualifications: Essential: - 5+ years of financial accounting experience - Advanced Excel proficiency (SUMIFS, INDEX-MATCH, PivotTables) - Demonstrated expertise in consolidations and reconciliations - Strong documentation and workpaper maintenance - Excellent written and spoken English communication - Formal accounting qualification (CPA, IPA, CA, or equivalent) Highly Preferable: - Experience spanning public practice and in-house accounting roles - Understanding of Australian and US compliance requirements - Background in ecommerce, ERP, or inventory accounting - Foreign exchange/multicurrency handling or strong learning potential - Exposure to commercial and charitable sector environments - Audit preparation or forensic review experience Work Arrangement & Expectations: This is a remote role established as an independent contractor engagement.
