Cherry Bekaert Advisory LLC is looking for a Finance & Accounting Outsourcing Manager to support our Not-for-Profit practice. In this client-facing role, you will provide operational accounting and financial system solutions for multiple organizations, overseeing month-end close, financial reporting, project management, and team supervision.
What You'll Do
- Oversee day-to-day and month-end close entries including revenue, payroll, prepaid expenses, unbilled accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities.
- Prepare and review complex reconciliations for necessary balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
- Be responsible for the month-end and year-end closing process.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of each client's accounting operations and software.
- Assist external auditors and tax accountants with schedules, explanations, and data preparation.
- Assist in the preparation of client year-end 1099 submissions.
- Recommend, design, and implement department controls and procedures.
- Communicate with clients on an ongoing basis.
- Review and supervise the accounting team's monthly work, including journal entries, AP, and AR.
- Coach and mentor staff and senior accountants.
- Disburse client requests to team members to manage deadlines and manage client projects.
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in the nonprofit accounting field.
- At least 3 years in a manager role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field combined with relevant accounting experience.
- Proficiency with automated accounting software and spreadsheets, such as Sage Intacct and/or QuickBooks.
- Skill in working with limited supervision.
- Ability to manage and coach employees while handling multiple client requirements.
- Executive-level communication skills and the ability to extract relevant information from large data sets.
- Advanced understanding of general and subsidiary ledgers and financial statements.
- Strong project management skills, including developing and monitoring engagement budgets.
- A proactive, innovative approach, adherence to deadlines, and responsiveness to client and management needs.
- Strong ethics, a positive attitude, and a calm demeanor under pressure.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be a US citizen.
- 7+ years of relevant finance or accounting experience, with functional and technical design knowledge of multiple modules (e.g., GL, AP, AR, Consolidations).
- 5+ years of experience working within a Financial System solution (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics).
