As a Field Services Technician, you'll set up and activate internet, voice, and video services for residential and commercial clients. Work includes running and securing cabling both indoors and outdoors, making wall entries when needed, and installing network devices such as optical network terminals and routers at customer locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and commission broadband services using fiber and copper infrastructure, from external access points to customer equipment
- Configure Wi-Fi networks, routers, and connected devices to ensure strong performance and full coverage
- Test signal strength, connection speeds, and service quality using standard diagnostic tools
- Diagnose and fix connectivity problems, including wiring issues, signal degradation, and hardware malfunctions
- Guide customers through equipment use, Wi-Fi best practices, and simple troubleshooting steps
- Document all service activities, test outcomes, and installation details in company systems using mobile applications and Microsoft 365 tools
- Keep work areas tidy by sealing openings, restoring surfaces, and removing debris after installation
- Represent the company professionally during visits to homes, offices, and commercial properties
- Follow safety protocols, including proper use of ladders, tools, and personal protective equipment
- Operate service vehicles safely and in compliance with traffic regulations
- Take part in on-call schedules and travel for assignments as needed
- Maintain consistent attendance and complete additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is required. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and be comfortable working in customer environments. Proficiency with hand and power tools, along with basic computer skills—especially in Microsoft 365 apps—is essential. Experience with telecommunications installations, low-voltage cabling, or field service roles is preferred.
Work Environment
This is a locally based position involving regular travel between job sites. Schedules may include evenings, weekends, or multi-day trips depending on customer needs. Technicians must be able to lift equipment, work at heights, and perform physical tasks safely.
