Eaton Corporation is seeking an Embedded Hardware Engineer Specialist to lead the design and development of embedded hardware for power electronics based circuit protection products. You will work with the Advanced Technology team to develop electronic trip units for next generation technology, guiding projects from design concept through production launch.
What You'll Do
- Act as the technical lead in embedded hardware development for power electronic based circuit breakers.
- Develop product technical requirements by collaborating with marketing and application teams.
- Perform embedded hardware design and testing tasks.
- Collaborate with the team to develop control and electrical fault management algorithms and hardware using Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL).
- Plan work in detail as an individual contributor and technical lead, creating robust, trackable plans coordinated with the larger development team, including requirement definition and issue tracking.
- Review your own work and others' work in formal design and quality reviews.
- Test your own work or the work of others, meeting quality and reliability goals.
- Develop a high level of technical expertise in embedded hardware design.
- Perform and contribute to technical research and investigations.
- Collaborate with teams from ERL, Electrical Sector Center of Excellence, and external technology resources for innovation.
- Follow Prelaunch and PROLaunch phase-gate new product development processes.
- Generate value-added intellectual property.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering field, preferably Electrical, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience developing embedded hardware/firmware for electronic devices.

Nice to Have
- Proficiency in C.
- Experience with C++.
- Experience in implementing wired communication protocols.
- Experience with wireless communications systems, such as Bluetooth, WiFi, and CAN.
- Experience using defect tracking systems and code repositories.
- Knowledge of and experience with project tracking tools such as Jira and JAMA.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
