Field Services Manager
Oversee the daily performance of a field team responsible for commissioning, operating, and decommissioning Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role ensures seamless field operations by guiding technicians, coordinating with internal teams, and maintaining direct communication with clients to uphold service quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of 15–20 field service technicians, providing direction on technical execution and operational best practices.
- Act as the main point of contact for field staff, resolving issues quickly and ensuring adherence to project timelines.
- Coordinate scheduling, dispatching, and resource deployment to maintain efficient service delivery.
- Track performance metrics including response times, completion rates, and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- Respond to on-site challenges promptly, minimizing downtime and maintaining client trust.
- Engage directly with customers to address concerns, gather insights, and strengthen service outcomes.
- Enforce compliance with safety protocols, company policies, and industry regulations through regular field audits.
- Support the development and refinement of standard operating procedures for field activities.
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and integrate new tools or technologies into field workflows.
- Report regularly to leadership on team performance, project progress, and operational risks.
- Analyze service data to detect trends and recommend actionable improvements.
Qualifications
A technical background with hands-on field experience is essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent field experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in field service operations, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Proven ability to manage teams in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Strong grasp of field service logistics, scheduling, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Clear, professional communication abilities, both written and verbal.
Preferred Experience
- Background in battery energy storage systems, electric vehicle technology, or related technical fields.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role based in Elmhurst, IL, with approximately 10% travel required to customer sites or the company’s headquarters. The position operates in a field-support environment with regular interaction between office, warehouse, and project locations.
