Syngenta Agro GmbH is hiring a Field Scientist to join our Product Biology Team in the Regina, SK area. In this role, you will generate critical field bioefficacy data to support the development and registration of Crop Protection products. You will be responsible for creating analytical reports and regulatory data packages to drive business growth and integrate new technologies into our field plans.
What You'll Do
- Plant, maintain, and harvest crop protection trials relevant to the designated geography.
- Perform routine site maintenance, including tillage, soil sampling, fertilizer applications, planting, and implementing chemical treatments.
- Collect in-season observations and data, maintaining plots throughout the growing season.
- Gather electronic and digital data from precision technologies like GPS-guided equipment, soil sensors, and digital data capture tools.
- Meet data delivery timelines and upload data to various data domains.
- Perform data mining for product registration and technical profile development.
- Lead the field development of biological data for crop protection products.
- Recruit, train, and supervise summer students to ensure high-quality trial execution.
- Prepare written and verbal reports, including trial abstracts, scientific summaries, and Part 10 efficacy data submissions.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with university, government, contract research, and extension specialists.
- Maintain local facility infrastructure and administrative requirements for site operation.
- Follow company HSE standards and code of conduct.
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated knowledge of cropping practices and strategies for the designated geography.
- Experience in pesticide application and ability to obtain a pesticide applicator license.
- Knowledge of operating field equipment such as tractors, sprayers, and small plot combines.
- Professional communication skills for building healthy working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Solid scientific analytical skills for product technical profile development.
- Strong planning and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Nice to Have
- An M.Sc. in an area of crop science is considered desirable.
- Preferred 2–3 years’ experience managing a crop protection field research program.
- Knowledge of registering products with PMRA in Canada.
- Knowledge of statistical field trial design.
