About the Role

Walter-tools is looking for a Field Sales Engineer to increase sales of Walter products and services in the Traverse City, Michigan territory. You will establish effective relationships with target customers and internal stakeholders to meet customer needs.

What You'll Do

  • Plan sales activities through market analysis to define target customers and implement company strategy.
  • Schedule productive customer visits with a defined purpose and agenda.
  • Engage in active listening to understand customer needs and requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to build a network that reacts to customer needs.
  • Negotiate agreements with customers and business partners to reach optimal solutions.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to coordinate company products and processes for optimized customer solutions.
  • Promote the complete range of company products and services to satisfy customer application needs.
  • Sell products and services by providing value-added solutions.
  • Actively seek sales orders upon customer agreement with proposed solutions.
  • Document and report sales activities, including test reports, cost savings, and business forecasts.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or business administration with a technical focus, OR an advanced technical associate degree, OR equivalent experience in the cutting tool industry.
  • Several years of sales experience with industrial cutting tools focused on new business development, OR several years of manufacturing experience with the ability to sell in end-user and channel sales models.
  • Experience in the manufacturing or distribution marketplace.
  • Experience working independently from a home or virtual office and traveling a significant amount of time.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Must live in the Traverse City, Michigan area.
  • Ability to communicate and conduct business in English.

Work Mode

This is a local field sales role based in Traverse City, Michigan. The position involves travel within the assigned territory.
