Stage 3 Separation is looking for a Field Leader - Solids Control to be the on-site expert and lead for our Canadian operations. In this critical role, you will lead by example to ensure safe, efficient, and high-performing field activities, directly impacting our commitment to safety and technology innovation.
What You'll Do
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of up to 10 Solids Control Technicians and contractors through hands-on supervision and training.
- Oversee all daily field operations, night and day, ensuring safety, productivity, and equipment reliability.
- Maintain full accountability for solids control activities in the “backyard” of assigned job sites, ensuring operational readiness.
- Collaborate closely with fellow Field Leaders, Technicians, and Trainees to deliver seamless, high-quality service.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of solids control equipment including shaker tanks, centrifuges, drying equipment, and pumps.
- Oversee services such as air drilling, barite recovery, de-watering, fluid transfers, and cuttings drying.
- Perform and oversee routine maintenance and basic electrical services on equipment.
- Mentor technicians on standard operating procedures, including the safe operation of heavy machinery for moving cuttings.
- Perform site audits and audit daily PJRA/JSA, inspection reports, and checklists.
- Oversee PPE/FR protocols and lead by example on all safety standards.
- Operate and oversee heavy machinery including excavators, forklifts, skid steers, or wheel loaders.
- Input routine data into company systems and provide weekly updates to Area Managers.
- Pick up and deliver equipment, make grocery runs for the team, and maintain clean job sites and housing.
What We're Looking For
- Able to work a rotational schedule: 14 days on/7 days off or 20 days on/11 days off in Canada, with 12-hour shifts including overtime.
- Able to oversee a team of up to 10 technicians on rotational day, night, and possibly swing shifts.
- 36 months of verifiable Solids Control experience.
- Expert-level understanding of environmental processes and drilling fluid properties, including performing fluid analysis.
- Expert knowledge of Environmental Services (construction, utilities).
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues with basic knowledge of currents, volts, circuits, and power.
- Ability to perform standard rig up/rig out procedures while coaching technicians.
- Must complete a mentor certification program to handle a variety of personality issues appropriately.
- Must be able to build professional relationships with everyone on site, including customers, and meet deadlines.
- Must be professional, patient, calm, customer-service oriented, tactful, and diplomatic.
- Mechanically inclined with comprehension for electronics, and able to problem-solve, multitask, and troubleshoot efficiently.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (cold, wet, hot) and be away from home for 14 days or longer.
- Able to share living accommodations professionally and keep quarters clean and orderly.
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English.
- Prior experience or certifications with Forklift, Excavator, Skid Steer, or Wheel Loader required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, valid insurance, and an acceptable driving record.
- Must maintain a company vehicle professionally and follow the Company Vehicle Policy.
- Must carry valid safety certifications including H2S, CPR/First Aid, confined space, and customer-specific certifications.
- Must be able to travel domestically to remote work locations in a company vehicle throughout the United States.
Nice to Have
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- A 2-year Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Technology, Electronics, Mechanics, or a similar field.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Area Manager and oversee a team of up to 10 technicians. You will provide critical leadership on-site and extend influence beyond the job site, collaborating closely with a team that values safety, teamwork, and operational integrity.
Work Mode
This is an onsite role based in Canada Remote, with required travel to remote work locations throughout the United States.
