We are looking for a Field Applications Scientist to join our APJ team, playing a pivotal role in ensuring our growing customer base’s success. You will provide direct technical support and training, requiring frequent travel to customer sites throughout the region.
What You'll Do
- Frequently travel to customer sites to provide hands-on support.
- Troubleshoot issues related to user technique, biochemistry/assay design, experimental design, software, and instruments.
- Support the commercial team and customers in their technical applications and deliver comprehensive product training.
- Display professionalism, understanding, tact, fairness, and deep technical knowledge in every customer interaction.
- Provide strategic and competitive feedback to marketing and product development teams.
- Independently lead or manage beta tests at customer sites.
- Work independently on significant issues, collaborating with key decision-makers and senior managers.
- Assist sales and marketing on pre- and post-sales activities requiring technical depth and market knowledge.
- Deliver customer training and workshops, both in-person and remote.
- Utilize service CRM software to accurately identify and document customer opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal partners to resolve customer issues and improve processes.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree with 4+ years, Master's degree with 2+ years, or PhD with experience in NGS library construction.
- Hands-on experience with cell culture and tissue handling.
- Experience with cell biology, microscopy, and multiomics.
- Must be highly motivated with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and strong relationship-building skills.
- Highly collaborative and adaptable; able to work well within multidisciplinary teams.
- Skilled in nucleic acids and protein analytical methods.
- Ability to generate high-quality and reproducible wet-lab data from established protocols.
- High degree of comfort navigating technical project discussions.
- Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
- Demonstrated account management skills.
- Fluent in English.
- Physically located in Japan.
- Able to frequently move boxes weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Flexible working hours, as the position may require customer support during non-regular business hours.
Nice to Have
- Experience with NGS sequencing instrument and sequencing run setup.
- Experience with NGS sample and library prep workflows.
- Location in Tokyo.
