Penn State is looking for a Facilities Automation BACnet Analyst to develop comprehensive applications and engineered solutions for specific projects. You will provide crucial technical support to the field organization, resolving issues on the PSU BACnet network, managing systems integration, and responding to campus emergencies.
What You'll Do
- Proactively monitor BAS network traffic using network analyzer applications and evaluate new techniques and concepts.
- Investigate, repair, and document data sharing problems with vendor integrations and energy-related applications like the Enterprise Utility Management System (EUMS).
- Investigate, repair, and document network errors (e.g., duplicate IP addresses, loss of communication) and programming errors (e.g., mis-configured CoV subscriptions, I/O errors).
- Perform point-to-point system check-outs and participate in onboarding new and renovated systems.
- Ensure proper software setup, programming, and communication with servers.
- Provide technical support, direction, and guidance to end users and other trades personnel.
- Maintain technical proficiency through seminars, training, conferences, and self-education.
- Respond to campus emergencies, both during the day and after hours.
- Use campus software tools to develop, organize, and maintain technical documentation.
- Apply journey-level knowledge of occupational hazards and safety standards related to electrical and building system controls.
- Initiate work, operate independently from written or verbal orders, and accept responsibility for assignments.
What We're Looking For
- If filled as a Facilities Automation Systems Specialist - Advanced Professional: Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination.
- If filled as a Facilities Automation Systems Specialist - Intermediate Professional: Associate Degree and 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination.
- Availability for emergency after-hours work, which may require carrying a cell phone.
- Ability to work in the US without sponsorship.
Nice to Have
- Additional years of experience in HVAC Controls, Building Automation, and/or IT Networking.
- Experience with building automation systems.
- Working knowledge of BACnet traffic and IT networks.
- Journey-level experience using computers and software to maintain, adjust, operate, and troubleshoot building automation systems.
