Penn State Extension is hiring an Extension Educator and Nutrition Links Supervisor for its Food, Families, and Communities Unit. This role delivers educational programming to improve human health and food safety through a combination of virtual and in-person engagement.
What You'll Do
- Work with Extension program teams to identify important human health and food safety issues.
- Develop educational events and materials to support learning objectives and utilize evaluations to measure program success.
- Deliver virtual programs statewide and in-person programs in assigned counties.
- Supervise program assistants and volunteers who teach nutrition and food safety programs.
- Develop and/or participate in collaborations across multiple disciplines, departments, colleges, and institutions.
- Work effectively in a team and with diverse populations and audiences.
- Work closely with university faculty and staff to develop and conduct applied research relevant to target audiences’ needs.
- Participate in developing a diverse external funding portfolio (e.g., grants, contracts, cost recovery, development) to support the team’s programs.
- Develop original content to engage audiences through innovative educational methods such as online courses, videos, mobile apps, and electronic publications, in addition to traditional publications and in-person presentations.
- Provide educational programming to improve human health and well-being to reduce the incidence and risk of chronic diseases and foodborne illnesses.
What We're Looking For

Work Mode
This is a hybrid position with primary office locations in Delaware County, PA (Office location: Smedley Park Environmental Center / Lewis House, 20 Paper Mill Road, Springfield, PA 19064) and Montgomery County, PA.
