Catawiki is hiring an Expert Japanese Antiquities & Contemporary Art. You will leverage your deep expertise to evaluate user-submitted lots and curate compelling auction listings, while acting as a commercial ambassador at art fairs. This role is central to strategically expanding Catawiki's footprint in Japan, with a focus on cultivating new supply and connecting with younger collectors.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate and arrange lots submitted by users.
- Create attractive lot listings each week using your expertise in Japanese art.
- Act as a commercial representative, attending art fairs and engaging directly with buyers and sellers.
- Negotiate deals and provide expertise to facilitate successful transactions.
- Foster trust and transparency with users.
- Play an essential role in expanding Catawiki’s market in Japan.
- Strategically grow new supply areas and launch campaigns tailored to attract younger collectors, including Gen Z.
What We're Looking For
- Expertise in Japanese Art & Antiques, with a particular emphasis on modern and contemporary Japanese art.
- Commercial acumen, with proven experience in negotiating deals and representing a platform at fairs and exhibitions.
- Professional trading experience on leading platforms such as Catawiki, 1stDibs, eBay, Yahoo! JAPAN Auction, and relevant Japanese Art & Antiques fairs.
- Skills in optimising auction strategies (reserve price, sell rate, cash flow) and tracking auction performance.
- Ability to guide sellers on current market trends.
- A strategic mindset for growing Catawiki’s marketing initiatives in Japan, with a focus on engaging young collectors and Gen Z.
- Outstanding communication skills in Japanese and English.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with online sales platforms.
- A robust network of potential sellers, buyers, and experts in Japanese Art & Antiques.
- Ability to tap into new supply areas.
- Diplomatic competence for mediating disputes and maintaining excellent user relations.
- Full-time commitment to Catawiki.
