The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is hiring an Experiential Scholars Program (ESP) Intern. This nine-week summer paid internship is designed for college juniors and seniors to gain hands-on experience in one of three focus areas: water/soil conservation, food nutrition/health/safety, or community/economic development.
What You'll Do
- Seek information from mentors and colleagues regarding the history, purpose, and mission of the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture.
- Job shadow and assist your mentor in day-to-day activities to simulate Extension education, including technical programming, building relationships, and conducting field demonstrations.
- Participate in leadership training via Zoom to interact with peers, share experiences, and learn leadership skills as applied in Extension.
- Conduct an independent project in your chosen focus area, working with your mentor to select, evaluate, and complete an impact report on an Extension project.
- Maintain a log or journal outlining internship experiences and complete a Record of Internship at the conclusion.
What We're Looking For
- Junior or senior-level undergraduate student status at a U.S. institution.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
- Cumulative minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Good academic standing with your university.
- Ability to travel, including overnight stays, and visit clientele sites throughout the county.
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods and handle objects up to 25 pounds.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing with groups and individuals and through mass media.
- Ability to use a computer for program delivery and management.
- Ability to plan and teach educational programs.
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to serve as a positive role model.

- First-generation college student.
- Student from an institution with limited research opportunities.
- Student with a minimum of 45 credit hours at time of application.
Team & Environment
Interns are assigned a focus area mentor who provides training and guidance.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $12.50 hourly.
- Potential prorated holiday pay for temporary employees averaging at least 20 hours per week, based on specific eligibility criteria.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position with a primary location in Central Arkansas.
