Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors seeks an Estimator for Civil Construction to join our team in a fully remote capacity. You will apply your analytical skills and construction knowledge to interpret plans, complete detailed take-offs, and develop precise cost estimates for site development projects. Your work will directly impact proposal preparation and project bidding, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
What You'll Do
- Perform take-offs for civil construction projects using Trimble Business Center – HCE software.
- Evaluate site access, conditions, and production levels to inform proposals.
- Manage the take-off and bidding process for small site packages and Green Infrastructure installation projects.
- Collaborate with the Estimating Assistant to maintain bid matrices, calendars, and supporting documentation.
- Conduct linear take-offs from plans as required.
- Work with Superintendents to assess time, materials, and equipment for self-perform tasks.
- Prepare comprehensive proposals that clearly identify scope, assumptions, and exclusions.
- Submit proposals and follow up on their status with clients.
- Conduct site visits to verify the scope of work when necessary.
- Facilitate a smooth project handoff to the Operations Team upon proposal acceptance.
What We're Looking For
- Basic knowledge of heavy equipment and construction processes.
- Experience with earthwork take-off software and a willingness to learn and use Trimble Business Center – HCE.
- Familiarity with site development components: erosion & sediment control, clearing, earthwork, utilities, grading, concrete, paving, and stabilization.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for interpreting civil plans and preparing accurate cost estimates.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients.
- Self-motivation with good organizational and time management skills.
Nice to Have
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or equivalent experience.
- Experience bidding on stormwater facilities and BMP projects.
