Sand Cherry Associates is hiring an EPC Project Manager, Carbon Capture to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) projects. This role requires a blend of leadership and deep technical expertise across multiple engineering disciplines.
What You'll Do
- Lead the safe, cost-effective, and timely delivery of CCUS capital projects.
- Ensure the project team follows established project management processes.
- Develop, implement, and help manage robust processes for identifying, screening, appraising, selecting, designing, and executing economic risk.
- Establish effective, fit-for-purpose project management processes.
- Document and apply lessons learned for continuous process improvement.
- Ensure scope, schedule, and cost controls are implemented at each project phase.
- Ensure the project’s economic model is accurate, weighing risks and validating inputs.
- Collaborate across functions such as Geology, Land, and Business Development.
- Develop and apply the project playbook and best practices tool kit.
- Assist in managing vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field along with business acumen.
- Minimum of 8-10 years in the oil and gas industry in a project, program management, or consulting capacity.
- Experience managing tens of millions of dollars’ worth of capital projects, particularly in O&G.
- Strong project management skills and knowledge of contract types and strategies for industrial facility design and construction.
- Ability to understand and integrate work from specialists in subsurface, wells, land, surface facilities engineering, stakeholder relations, construction, operations, HSE, regulatory, and commercial partners.
- Strong integration and communication skills to deliver results through distributed teams without direct authority over key resources.
- Ability to understand complex problems and ensure efficient use of resources to deliver project results.
- Demonstrate safety leadership, integrity, accountability, and transparency while upholding standards, values, and culture.
- Ability to work to achieve operational targets under general supervision.
- Leadership experience to manage and drive projects through the full life cycle from scope to delivery.
- Strong individual contributor experience in an oil and gas environment.
- Understand safe design principles, process safety concepts, and exhibit personal safety leadership.
- Ability to integrate, align, and motivate a team across a common project mission.
- Strong communication skills, ability to set priorities, delegate, and manage performance of internal and external resources.
- Comfort with pace and managing multiple competing priorities with confidence and professionalism.

- Strong knowledge of project development stages from concept definition to design, planning, and EPC work.
- Knowledge of stage gates, budgets, and FID decision-making processes.

- Understand the value of interfacing and engaging Operations in project design and delivery.
- Basic to moderate subsurface and wells knowledge and an understanding of engineering design processes.
- Experience with contract development, contractor management, and project contract strategies.
- Experience with construction planning and execution, project completions, and commissioning processes.
- Understanding of natural gas industry standards, market trends, emerging issues, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working at a public company in multiple areas of the project management function.
- Experience identifying, assessing, and addressing key risks; understand the risk/reward picture.
- Financial management skills and experience utilizing economic models to make informed project decisions.
- Proficient in Excel, PPT, MS Project and able to use digital tools to improve project performance.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and work independently or as part of a team.
- Advanced interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills, as well as attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Must be fully authorized to work in the United States, without requiring visa sponsorship or C2C status.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to carbon injections or carbon capture utilization and storage is highly desired.
- An MBA is helpful, but not required.
- PMP or PMI certification is preferred.
