About the Role

The City of Saskatoon is seeking an Environmental Coordinator to join our Sustainability Department. In this role, you will coordinate waste reduction and diversion programs, plans, and projects, reporting to the Education and Environmental Performance Manager.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and deliver corporate and community programs related to waste reduction, diversion, recycling, organics, and other environmental initiatives.
  • Collaborate with communications staff and contractors to create campaigns that support programs and convey environmental messages.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on environmental program performance and metrics.
  • Act as a departmental liaison with community associations, environmental organizations, other City departments, and external agencies.
  • Serve on committees to foster resident cooperation and participation in environmental programs.
  • Assist in securing project funding from internal and external sources, including preparing grant applications and reports.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic and business plans for environmental and sustainability initiatives.

What We're Looking For

  • A degree in a related field.
  • Four years of experience in the environmental sustainability field, specifically in waste reduction and diversion programs, environmental programs, or community education.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence and a safe driving record as demonstrated by an SGI abstract.
  • Knowledge of waste reduction and diversion program development and execution.
  • Knowledge of research, planning, and evaluation processes for environmental projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including preparing and presenting complex technical reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, officials, agency representatives, and the public.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Skill in operating a computer with Microsoft Office software.

You will be part of the Sustainability Department within the Division of Utilities and Environment, reporting directly to the Education and Environmental Performance Manager.

Work Mode

This is an onsite position located in Saskatoon.
