Fives Stein is hiring an Entry Level Controls Engineer for its Steel & Glass division based in the Columbus, MS area, starting in May/June. This role involves regional travel between Columbus, MS and Nashville, TN to provide on-site support and commissioning for clients.
What You'll Do
- Create, commission, and debug industrial controls systems, PLC software, and HMI screens for diverse industries.
- Travel to customer sites for system installation, startup, and production support.
- Conduct peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, and coordinate machine debug and validation.
- Ensure systems are designed and programmed to customer specifications using standard approaches.
- Receive training on multiple PLC platforms, hardware design, and programming.
What We're Looking For
- Education or training in programming languages; ladder logic/PLC is ideal, but object-oriented programming experience is acceptable.
- CAD or design experience (e.g., AutoCAD, Solidworks, EPLAN).
- A strong willingness to learn and train on new systems, and an enjoyment of programming.
- A good attitude, team-player mentality, ability to work independently, and willingness to go the extra mile.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
Nice to Have
- Prior internship or co-op experience.
- Proficiency with field bus networks such as DeviceNet, Ethernet I/P, Profibus, ProfiNet.
