Role Overview
This position focuses on the design and implementation of real-time automation and data systems across industrial and enterprise settings. The engineer will develop integrated solutions involving control logic, supervisory interfaces, network architecture, and data pipelines, working closely with both technical teams and client stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy automation systems including PLC/PAC programming, SCADA/HMI development, and network integration
- Architect end-to-end solutions covering control systems, safety protocols, MES, and enterprise data flows
- Develop, test, and debug software across multiple vendor platforms and industrial protocols
- Create technical documentation such as design specifications, test procedures, and change control records
- Translate client requirements into engineering deliverables and system designs
- Support on-site commissioning and troubleshoot operational issues during deployment
- Review system outputs from remote team members, ensuring consistency and quality
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across different time zones
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Provide guidance to junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritize tasks effectively
Required Expertise
- Hands-on experience with PLC and PAC programming, including logic development and debugging
- Proficiency in SCADA and HMI design, particularly on the Ignition platform (Vision and Perspective modules)
- Knowledge of industrial networking, including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC-UA, and routing protocols
- Experience with machine safety system design and risk assessment methodologies
- Skill in database design using SQL Server or Oracle
- Background in servo motion control and vision systems integration
- Ability to design information solutions using C#, .NET, HTML5, VB/VBA, or similar technologies
- Familiarity with MES and ERP integration strategies
Preferred Skills
- Programming in Python or JavaScript for automation applications
- Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, or Beckhoff control platforms
- Working knowledge of multiple SCADA systems such as Wonderware, GE, or Schneider Electric
- Operating system proficiency in Windows, Linux, or Unix environments
- Use of Microsoft Office for engineering documentation and reporting
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role with collaboration across distributed teams. On-site commissioning requires travel to client facilities. The position demands strong remote coordination skills due to multi-timezone project involvement.
