About the Role

PeopleCert is looking for English Speaking Examiners to join our team in Athens. The Examiner is responsible for conducting online exams and assessing candidates' performance for the LanguageCert qualification suite, in accordance with stringent assessment criteria and processes. The role involves managing the candidate interaction, ensuring a positive experience, and safeguarding exam integrity within our Online Test Center, which operates 24/7/365.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct online spoken interviews according to the Interlocutor Framework and LanguageCert regulations
  • Manage the interaction in the exam and facilitates the candidate’s performance, ensuring a positive candidate experience
  • Ensure standardization and consistency of interlocution
  • Assess the candidate’s performance fairly and consistently and in accordance with LanguageCert’s stringent assessment criteria and processes
  • Perform the required procedures to authenticate the candidate’s identity and safeguard exam integrity in accordance with PeopleCert’s standards, regulations and processes
  • Implement troubleshooting protocols for technical support
  • Ensure efficient operation of ICT systems and applications
  • Attend LanguageCert’s trainings and standardization sessions as required
  • Respond positively to guidance and advice and implement improvements where needed
  • Observe the need for confidentiality of examination material and security at all times
  • Provide feedback on assessment material, as required
  • Carry out any reasonably allocated duties and tasks, relevant to the role and the scope of activities by applying a flexible & adaptable customer centric approach to serve PeopleCert’s multinational presence and global operations across multiple time zones
  • Offer the services set out above within the specified times and in accordance with LanguageCert’s procedures
  • Execute a range of reasonable additional tasks and involve in activities as assigned by their supervisor

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in English Language or similar field, or any undergraduate degree with TEFL/TESOL qualification (Level 5 and above) from a recognized institution
  • Minimum 4 years’ full-time TEFL teaching experience (Freelance and volunteer teaching is not included)
  • Demonstrable experience in English language assessment examining with awarding bodies
  • Full familiarity with the levels of the Common European Framework (CEFR) and working knowledge on it
  • A very good level of IT literacy
  • Familiarity with online communication platforms (i.e. Teams)
  • Exceptional command of the English language (C2/ native-like)
  • Excellent listening, writing and speaking skills, clear enunciation and articulation, adapting language and form of communication to meet the needs of different audiences
  • Prioritisation skills and ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously
  • Well organized, self-driven, flexible and able to work in a high-volume, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment
  • Availability for 24/7 rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • If working on the SELT service in the UK: must pass a basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, Right to Work in the UK check, HO security check (BPSS or CTC), Financial background check, Employment reference check
  • If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK): must undergo equivalent background checks
  • If required to speak to SELT candidates: must be appropriately skilled in English language and, where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK), the official language of the relevant country
  • Must undergo a Background Check prior to commencing SELT duties
  • Must complete a declaration where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared

Nice to Have

  • Post graduate, Research degree and/ or Teaching Qualifications will be taken into consideration towards the completion of the above minimum requirement
  • Prior working experience in the certification of persons and/or training and exam fields is desirable

Work Mode

  • Hybrid work mode.
  • If based in Athens, work from our centrally located offices, right next to the Panepistimio metro station.
  • If located outside of Athens, work fully remote.
  • Must be available for 24/7 rotating shifts.
