Royal BAM Group is looking for an Engineering Manager to play a pivotal role on the HS2 Track infrastructure project. You will join during the initial design phase, supporting the Lead Engineering Manager in coordinating and delivering all design activities for your allocated Lot from Scheme Design through to As-Built stages.
What You'll Do
- Act as the Lot-level engineering focal point, coordinating day-to-day design delivery with Construction, Commercial, Planning and Project Controls teams.
- Ensure consistency of technical standards, governance, assurance processes and design integration across all Lots as part of the route-wide Track Engineering function.
- Coordinate and monitor the performance and outputs of Designers and specialist design subcontractors at Lot level.
- Support the management of internal and external interfaces within the Lot and contribute to the resolution of route-wide interface matters.
- Participate in technical reviews, progressive assurance activities and CDM compliance.
- Support working-level engagement with the Client and interfacing contractors.
- Assist in identifying, monitoring and mitigating technical risks and opportunities at Lot level.
- Provide support during change processes for Lot-related scope and technical input for commercial communications.
- Attend weekly meetings with the construction team, broader design team, and client in Birmingham and/or London.
What We're Looking For
- Chartered Civil Engineering / Rail Civil Engineer / Architect status or equivalent.
- A Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Extensive experience in major infrastructure projects, including senior design or engineering coordination roles.
- Experience operating under NEC contracts.
- Experience in managing and liaising with third parties and other contractors.
- Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Very good communication and organizational skills.
Nice to Have
- A strong track record in major rail programmes.
