Stord, Inc. is looking for an Engineering Manager to guide a team of talented engineers, foster a culture of technical excellence, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality software solutions. Your primary goal will be to help your team operate with autonomy, speed, and technical excellence.
What You'll Do
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Provide architectural and technical guidance to ensure scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Oversee the development lifecycle, ensuring efficient planning, prioritization, and execution of engineering projects.
- Work closely with Product, Design, and Operations teams to align technical initiatives with business objectives.
- Enhance engineering processes, streamline workflows, and implement best practices to drive operational efficiency.
- Ensure high code quality and adherence to software development best practices through design reviews and technical mentorship.
- Contribute to the engineering strategy and roadmap, aligning it with Stord’s broader business goals.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience (8+ years) in software engineering, with 3+ years in an engineering leadership role.
- Strong background in development, preferably in Elixir/Phoenix or other functional programming languages.
- Experience working on large-scale distributed systems or complex enterprise applications.
- Ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make data-driven decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of software development best practices, system architecture, and DevOps principles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with Product, Design, and other teams.
- Ability to clearly articulate complex technical ideas and plans with people of diverse backgrounds.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience as an Engineering Manager at multiple companies.
- Previous startup experience.
- Experience in logistics or supply chain technology.
- Hands-on experience with WMS platforms, Labor Management Systems, or Order Management Systems.
