exmox GmbH is looking for an Engineering Manager - Data Engineering (m/f/x) to lead and grow our data platform team. You will spearhead the development of our data infrastructure, serving as both a people leader and a technical guide to ensure platform stability and performance.
What You'll Do
- Lead the team in designing, implementing, testing, and launching ETL pipelines, data models, and warehouse architecture.
- Collaborate closely with analytics, product engineering, and devops teams as a key member of the Data Leadership Team.
- Provide technical guidance and inspiration to the agile data engineering team.
- Oversee individual engineer development and act as Hiring Manager as the team scales.
- Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and agile best practices.
- Guarantee the stability, security, and high-performance operation of the data platform for batch, streaming, and analytics workloads.
- Proactively monitor and optimize services and infrastructure for scalability and cost efficiency.
- Take ownership of solution development and communication with the development team.
- Drive teamwork and shared expertise to achieve project milestones.
- Act as a hands-on technical leader, contributing to architecture design, code reviews, and occasionally implementing critical pipelines and infrastructure.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM subject.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience leading and mentoring teams of data engineers.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a data engineer with ETL, data modeling, and warehouse management.
- Experience in developing, scaling, and maintaining a cloud data platform.
- Strong competence in data governance, lineage, access policies, and data quality assurance.
- Proficiency in languages such as SQL, Python, and Spark.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Strong methodical competence in project management.
- Adaptability to fast-changing work environments and comfort being hands-on when needed.
