Canva is looking for an Engineering Manager (BE) to lead one of our core revenue infrastructure teams within the monetisation platform. You will guide the team through complex technical challenges, own the technical roadmap, and partner cross-functionally to deliver high-impact initiatives that drive growth.
What You'll Do
- Lead one of Canva’s core revenue infrastructure teams as part of the broader monetisation platform.
- Guide your team through complex technical challenges, including scalable backend architecture, billing systems, and platform service decomposition.
- Own the team’s technical roadmap, project delivery, and development practices.
- Coach and grow backend engineers while fostering a culture of pragmatic technical excellence.
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, Finance, and other specialties to deliver high-impact monetisation initiatives.
- Contribute to the codebase and architectural decision-making while scaling your leadership.
What We're Looking For
- Backend expertise at the intersection of product, growth, and platform.
- Experience leading backend engineering teams, balancing people leadership with technical delivery.
- Experience working with distributed systems, microservices, and cloud infrastructure (especially AWS).
- Comfortable with object-oriented programming languages like Java.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and turn complex problems into scalable systems.
- Passionate about inclusive team culture and enabling cross-functional success.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly across diverse stakeholder groups.
