What You'll Do
- Manage 3-5 engineers and hire 3-5 more, covering multiple teams and specializations.
- Provide feedback on product and technical specifications to help engineers identify where to cut scope or improve quality.
- Grow engineers to the point where they can take large, loosely defined projects and deliver them with little intervention.
- Jump into systems and code to debug customer issues, ship small bug fixes, or improve developer experience.
- Propose and lead department and company-wide initiatives, such as improving pull request reviews, designing interviews, or improving demo data generation.
What We're Looking For
- A former engineer who has built impressive products.
- Experience building teams of great engineers.
- Someone who enjoys coding and finds time to stay up-to-date on technology.
- Ambition, courage, and follow-through to change things.
- Someone who could have been a Principal engineer or was one.
- A person who thrives with a team of engineers who have ownership and autonomy.
- A belief that staff and principal engineers lead by example and leverage.
- Optimism about building a large engineering team that functions differently from the status quo.
Team & Environment
The engineering team is doubling in size over the next year. You will work closely with the Co-Founder/VP of Engineering and peers, reporting directly to the Co-Founder and VP of Engineering.
Benefits & Compensation
- Competitive salary and equity.
- A 10-year exercise window.
Work Mode
This role follows a hybrid work model.
We are building a culture with minimal process, where engineers have ownership over decisions normally made by product and design. We value natural collaboration, deliberate communication, investing in tools and abstractions that give us leverage, and putting effort into building a diverse team.
