About the Role

Ascentec Engineering is seeking a Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Intern for Summer 2026 in Tualatin, Oregon. You will work onsite on a variety of projects supporting the machining area’s business objectives through continuous improvement in productivity, quality, and efficiency.

What You'll Do

  • Support overall business objectives through continuous improvement in operational productivity.
  • Work with Maintenance, Engineering, and Manufacturing to develop processes that increase production quality, efficiency, or volume.
  • Analyze and enhance assembly procedures using engineering principles, collaborating with the team to implement improvements.
  • Optimize CNC machining, milling, and turning processes, collaborating with machinists to implement advanced techniques for precision part production.
  • Contribute to developing new machining strategies and tooling solutions.
  • Implement statistical process control (SPC) methods to monitor and enhance quality.
  • Lead root cause analysis for quality issues, applying engineering methodologies.
  • Work on projects to implement advanced quality control techniques.
  • Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules for manufacturing equipment.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
  • Utilize engineering analysis tools to assess and document assembly and machining processes.
  • Generate comprehensive reports on quality control inspections, incorporating statistical analysis.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to provide insights into process improvements.
  • Engage with design engineering to provide feedback on manufacturability and assembly considerations.
  • Collaborate with production planning to ensure optimal workflow and resource utilization.
  • Contribute engineering insights to enhance the overall product lifecycle.
  • Apply engineering principles to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Participate in developing safety protocols for assembly and machining operations.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 3 years into a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Ability to interpret manufacturing schematics, blueprints, and GD&T.
  • Familiarity with statistical quality control methods.
  • Strong analytical, statistical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering Principles such as work measurement, methods engineering, and workplace design.
  • Experience applying ergonomics principles to workplace design.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to speak effectively with both Senior Management and Production teams.
  • Able to work independently with a high level of self-motivation and initiative.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and focused on helping to maintain consistent quality standards.
  • Strong mechanical hands-on skills.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check prior to employment.
  • Due to U.S. Government export regulations (including ITAR), must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by law, or eligible to obtain required authorizations.

Team & Environment

You will collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, Manufacturing, Design Engineering, and Production Planning departments.

This is an onsite position located in Tualatin, Oregon.
