This role is responsible for managing and maintaining critical engineering data used in transmission system planning. The engineer ensures the accuracy of steady-state and short-circuit models, with future responsibilities potentially extending to dynamic and EMT modeling. Work involves close coordination with internal departments and external entities including regional transmission organizations, generator developers, and distribution providers to ensure data integrity across current and future system configurations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Compliance, and external partners to support accurate representation of transmission assets in planning models.
- Participate in industry committees and working groups related to NERC, ERO, MISO, SPP, and other regulatory or reliability organizations.
- Support regulatory submissions, NERC compliance, contract development, and RTO data reporting requirements.
- Monitor emerging policy and regulatory changes that may impact transmission planning and provide technical input for filings.
- Propose improvements to planning processes and change management procedures to enhance efficiency and data reliability.
- Ensure timely updates and communication of model changes through established channels.
- Maintain proficiency with power system analysis tools including Siemens PTI PSS/E and Gridscale X APA (formerly CAPE).
