ITC Holdings Corp. is seeking a Planning Engineer to support critical business objectives through the meticulous management and organization of modeling data and Facility Ratings. In this role, you will ensure data accuracy, resolve related issues, and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external partners in the utility industry.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external entities including Operations, Engineering, Compliance, MISO, SPP, Generator Owners, developers, transmission companies, cooperatives, and Distribution Providers.
- Take an active role on various committees, panels, and working groups at Regional Reliability Organizations, Regional Transmission Organizations, NERC/ERO, and other industry and stakeholder related groups.
- Monitor and propose enhancements to Planning processes to support Department objectives and deliverables.
- Support RTO and RRO data submittals, regulatory filings, NERC compliance activities, and development of contracts.
- Monitor policy issues and select regulatory activities that may impact the company and provide planning support for regulatory and legal filings.
- Coordinate closely with cross-departmental teams to add new or modify existing data to ensure accurate representation of current and/or future assets.
- Maintain or improve current change management strategies, and dissemination of data updates to ensure timeliness through proper communication channels.
- Update and maintain steady-state and short-circuit modeling data used by various internal and external entities, with potential future functions including maintenance of dynamics and EMT data.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
- Engineer candidates must be able to quickly learn job specific skills and work independently given regular work direction while appropriately keeping others informed.
- Senior Engineer candidates must have advanced engineering skills and be able to work under minimal supervision given high level work direction while appropriately keeping others informed.
- Ability to implement and support Planning processes, policies, documents and procedures.
- Expertise with the use of, or ability to learn and utilize various power system analytical software such as Siemens PTI PSS/E and Gridscale X APA (formerly CAPE).
- Possess sound analytical problem-solving and documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals inside and outside the company.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).

Nice to Have
- Knowledge of electric utility system operations, planning, protection, design, construction and/or maintenance functions.
- Direct or indirect knowledge of the MISO and/or SPP planning processes.
- Direct or indirect knowledge of ITC, NERC and/or applicable RTO planning standards.
- Programming experience, for example with Python.
