About the Role

Chartis is hiring an Engagement Manager for our High-Reliability Care Solutions (HRC) practice within Clinical Transformation. This role is central to supporting our growth by leading 3-6 month consulting engagements with healthcare provider clients. You will guide teams to deliver complex projects focused on clinical documentation integrity, quality, and patient safety.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the problem-solving process and day-to-day management of engagement teams, overseeing analysis, deliverables, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Apply thought leadership to generate actionable insights and develop frameworks that drive meaningful client improvement.
  • Build and maintain client relationships using healthcare knowledge to address issues both within and beyond specific engagements.
  • Create sophisticated, compelling communications that motivate clients to action.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to junior staff, developing their skills through an apprenticeship model.
  • Help build the firm’s portfolio by supporting client proposals, participating in industry events, and other marketing activities.
  • Contribute to firm initiatives focused on talent, knowledge development, and other core areas.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • RN licensure and experience in a clinical setting with a CDI background at the hospital level required.
  • Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) certification required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a hospital/health system as a Clinical Documentation Specialist or in a leadership role.
  • Advanced clinical expertise and extensive knowledge of complex disease processes from inpatient experience.
  • Knowledge of coding rules and guidelines.
  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory systems and Medicare Part A.
  • Ability to conduct medical record reviews and assess clinical severity.
  • Robust understanding of quality improvement processes and risk-adjustment methodologies (e.g., HCCs, SOI, ROM).
  • Recent experience performing inpatient chart audits for cc/mcc optimization and risk adjustment.
  • Experience leveraging grouper logic and benchmarking tools to evaluate documentation integrity.
  • Robust understanding of risk adjustment specific to Mortality improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge on PSIs and exclusion criteria.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing CDS and physician education.
  • 3-5 years of experience delivering healthcare consulting in a professional services firm.
  • Ability to prioritize client organizational vulnerabilities and understand systemic issues.
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and superior communication skills.
  • Strong people leadership skills, adept at managing team work while developing colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel up to 80%.
  • Passion for materially improving the delivery of healthcare.

  • Master's degree highly preferred.

Work Mode
