Canada Post is hiring an Electronics Specialist to maintain the electronic systems that power our mail processing and handling operations. In this critical role, you will ensure the continued operation of essential equipment through hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting.
What You'll Do
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electronic and electro-mechanical postal equipment, including testing, diagnosis, repair, and adjustment.
- Read schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications to locate and correct malfunctions.
- Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures and assist in updating checklists.
- Conduct investigations into serious equipment failures to determine root cause and propose solutions.
- Initiate and manage work orders, assisting with estimates for time and materials.
- Observe and promote established safety practices, advising Operations on safe procedures.
- Maintain detailed documentation using the Computerized Maintenance Management system.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electronic test equipment, and predictive technologies.
- Operate motorized lifting equipment and specialized gear for work at heights.
- Retrieve parts from stores when required and participate in necessary training programs.
What We're Looking For
- Completion of a minimum 2-year post-secondary program in electronics (e.g., electronic technician/technologist, or DEC in Quebec).
- Two years of experience within the last five years maintaining and repairing a variety of electronic systems and equipment.
- English language proficiency (Essential).
- Practical understanding of the maintenance, repair, and modification of electronic systems.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical principles like hydraulics, pneumatics, and servo controllers.
- Ability to exercise physical effort, lifting heavy equipment and performing maintenance in cramped spaces, at heights, and in awkward positions.
- Ability to operate a computer and use programs such as Windows and MS Office.
- Ability to run and interpret computer diagnostics.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position based in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. The compensation is $33.28 per hour.
