Role Overview
As an Associate Field Service Technician, you will deliver hands-on technical support for retail technology systems, including point-of-sale devices, scanners, kiosks, and related hardware. Your primary responsibility is to ensure equipment operates efficiently through installation, preventive maintenance, and repair services at customer locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine diagnostics and repairs on retail systems using standardized tools, documentation, and test equipment, escalating complex issues when necessary
- Travel frequently within your assigned territory or across regions to install, relocate, or decommission equipment, including networked POS systems and peripheral devices
- Follow established procedures to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving low-voltage wiring, power and signal cables, and electronic components
- Communicate clearly with customers, team members, and management about service status, challenges, and resolution progress
- Maintain accurate records of all service activities in compliance with company standards, including time, travel, and repair documentation
- Manage inventory of service parts and tools to ensure readiness for customer visits
- Adapt to changing schedules and respond promptly to service requests, including overtime and weekend work as needed
- Use ladders or lifts when accessing equipment mounted overhead or on walls, and safely handle devices weighing up to 50 pounds
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent with at least two years of experience in electronics, technical repair, or a related field
- Familiarity with personal computers, network cabling, flat panel displays, printers, and retail technology systems
- Proficiency with hand tools, multimeters, and electronic testing devices
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and follow both written and verbal instructions accurately
- Strong customer service orientation with professional conduct and communication skills
- Self-directed with solid organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Willingness to travel extensively, including air travel, and operate in physically demanding environments
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive between multiple customer sites daily
Work Environment
This is an onsite role requiring mobility across customer locations. Work involves prolonged standing, bending, reaching, and lifting. Shifts may vary to meet project demands, including evenings, weekends, and last-minute schedule adjustments. Regular domestic travel is a core component of the position.
Technical Requirements
