We are looking for an ELA Curriculum Design Expert with extensive classroom experience to help shape a comprehensive reading and writing program for students in grades K–5. This position requires a deep understanding of how young learners develop literacy skills and how to structure content that supports both in-class instruction and independent reading.
Key Responsibilities
- Select high-quality, engaging books that align with developmental levels and meet academic expectations, while also resonating with parents as meaningful learning tools.
- Define which sections of each text will be taught during class time and which are assigned for students to read independently.
- Develop a structured ELA syllabus grounded in the Common Core State Standards, ensuring clear progression across grade levels.
- Incorporate major assessment frameworks such as MAP, i-Ready, and state-level standardized tests into curriculum planning to support measurable outcomes.
- Link core skills in reading, writing, and critical thinking directly to specific literary works, enabling targeted instruction.
Qualifications
Candidates must have at least five years of teaching experience in K–5 ELA settings, with a strong focus on second and third grades. A thorough grasp of Common Core standards and state testing requirements is essential. You should be able to interpret assessment data and turn it into practical instructional goals. Experience balancing student engagement, age-appropriate content, and academic rigor in book selection is critical.
Familiarity with standardized assessments like MAP and i-Ready is required. The ability to logically break down literary content for classroom use and independent study is key. A master’s degree in Education, English Education, or a related field is preferred.
