As an ECO Officer, you will play a key role in advancing food waste recycling efforts within the borough by supporting the development and implementation of targeted improvement strategies. Working alongside the Contract ECO Manager, you will lead community initiatives designed to shift resident behaviours and increase recycling participation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver community engagement activities that promote sustainable waste practices and support long-term behavioural change
- Deliver educational workshops and presentations to schools and local groups to raise awareness about recycling
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and quality assurance to ensure effective delivery
- Develop compelling stories from community successes and collaborate with digital and PR teams to amplify impact
- Support internal communication campaigns focused on safety and workplace culture
- Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including residents, local partners, and internal teams
- Stay informed about developments in waste management and environmental outreach
What We’re Looking For
You bring proven experience in community engagement or behaviour change initiatives, with strong project coordination skills and the ability to communicate clearly with diverse audiences. You are proactive, adaptable, and focused on delivering results that meet both client and community needs.
Preferred candidates will have knowledge of recycling systems, experience working with local government, creative skills in content development, and familiarity with digital communications, social media, and data analysis.
