The ECO Officer will work with the Contract ECO Manager at Veolia to develop and deliver a food waste recycling improvement plan and other community engagement initiatives across the borough. This role is central to changing resident behaviours, improving recycling performance, and supporting the company's commitment to ecological transformation.
What You'll Do
- Work closely with the Contract ECO Manager to develop and deliver a food waste recycling improvement plan for the borough
- Work on other community engagement projects to change resident behaviours and improve recycling rates
- Be responsible for the budget, timeline, and quality of project delivery
- Deliver educational sessions to schools and with residents in the local community
- Identify good news stories and campaign ideas and feed them to the regional digital and PR team
- Work closely with the regional digital and PR team to achieve regional and contract objectives
- Keep abreast of industry developments
- Build strong relationships with client, customers, and colleagues at all levels across the contract
- Deliver internal communications campaigns to improve safety performance and working culture
What We're Looking For
- Experience delivering behaviour change and/or community engagement techniques and analysing results
- Experience of project and event development and delivery
- Superb written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills
- Experience of building strong stakeholder relationships
- Ability to identify good news stories and develop them in partnership with PR team
- A flexible and proactive approach that prioritises meeting our client and service user needs
Nice to Have
- Recycling and waste industry knowledge
- Understanding or experience of working with local authorities
- Ability to develop creative visual content across multiple formats
- Advanced understanding of data management and analysis
- Understanding of PR, social media, social advertising and digital communications

Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 per annum, depending on experience. Includes Veolia benefits.
Work Mode
Hybrid working with 3 days per week in office at Kingston Upon Thames, KT1 3GZ. This arrangement is in place until March 2027.
