North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) was looking for an Early Intervention Service Provider for Ages Birth to Three

The Department of Environmental Quality anticipates hiring a School Speech-Language Pathologist for its Early Learning Sensory Support Program. This is a remote-based, 12-month position providing itinerant early intervention services to infants and toddlers (birth to three) with hearing loss under Part C of IDEA. The role requires up to 80% travel to serve children in their homes, childcare settings, and other natural environments across North Carolina.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate in Individualized Family Service Plan development with families and service coordinators, providing written progress reports.
  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate instruction tailored to each child and family in their natural environment.
  • Administer and interpret formal and informal language assessments, delivering comprehensive assessment reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided, including service notes, Medicaid billing documentation, and progress tracking.
  • Collaborate with and provide consultation to other service providers.
  • Offer consultative support to ELSSP teachers and professionals on assessment administration, report writing, language sampling, and intervention techniques.

What We're Looking For

  • A Master’s Degree or beyond in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Eligibility for or possession of a North Carolina Department of Public Instruction license in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • ASHA Certification.
  • A valid driver's license.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of hearing loss and its implications for overall development.
  • Familiarity with the development of spoken language and manual modes of communication for children with hearing loss.
  • Understanding of typical and atypical development and appropriate intervention strategies to maximize child progress.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory.

Team & Environment

This position is within the Early Learning Sensory Support Program for Children with Hearing and Vision Impairments (ELSSP), part of the SSAT section of the Office of Exceptional Children.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary range: $52,800.00 - $76,824.00.
  • Eligibility for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Work Mode

This is a fully remote position based in North Carolina, requiring extensive travel within the state to serve children in their natural environments.
