National General seeks an Early Career Trial Attorney to join our legal team. In this role, you will handle Personal Injury Protection (PIP) litigation and related matters, managing cases from inception through resolution. You’ll conduct legal research, prepare documents, attend hearings, and provide counsel while developing your skills in a dynamic, remote-first environment.
What You'll Do
- Manage all aspects of PIP/no-fault litigation from case inception through resolution including case evaluation, discovery, motion practice, arbitrations, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
- Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
- Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports.
- Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
- Interview clients and witnesses, as well as drafting summaries of their statements and maintaining communication records.
- Attend arbitration hearings, court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings to observe and assist as needed; may represent the company or clients in routine matters.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations, and assist in updating the legal team on potential impacts to ongoing cases.
- Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop legal skills and gain exposure to more complex legal work.
- Defend the company against medical bill claims.
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the New Jersey state bar.
- Successful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis.
- Demonstrates strong time management skills, effectively balancing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Capable of organizing case files, managing legal documents, and understanding the discovery process.
- Skilled in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions.
- Well-versed in legal ethics and the standards of professional conduct.
- Equipped with fundamental negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussions.
- Must reside within a commutable distance and be able to travel throughout New Jersey, as needed, for trials, court appearances, virtual hearings, and other related proceedings.

Work Mode
This role is remote, but candidates must reside within a commutable distance to travel throughout New Jersey as required for trials, court appearances, and other legal proceedings.
