General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is hiring a DS (Distribution Systems) Engineer to provide technical expertise modernizing network infrastructure at Air Force and Space Force bases worldwide. In this Field Engineer role, you will be the key technical resource supporting survey and implementation efforts, collaborating closely with base counterparts to plan, execute, test, and sustain wired network functionality.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate with Government Points of Contact to facilitate design, installation, base access, and equipment logistics to ensure timely project completion.
- Assist the Project Manager in maintaining clear, consistent, and accurate communications with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide input into distribution systems (ISP/OSP) designs and offer technical recommendations to program and operation teams.
- Lead small implementation teams or manage specific work scopes for assigned bases.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- 2+ years of experience in IT upgrade projects within the DoD environment.
- Familiarity with distribution systems design documents including Site Survey Reports, Critical Design, As-builts, rack elevations, and circuit matrices.
- Experience with all aspects of fiber testing.
- Thorough understanding of wired and general IT functions.
- Ability to work effectively in a virtual teaming environment and strong collaborative skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and government regulations.
- Strong coordination, organizational, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Active DoD Secret clearance and US citizenship are required.
- Must reside in the Oklahoma City area; role is remote but involves extensive travel and ability to report to the OKC office as needed.
