C220 Alcon Pharmaceuticals Ltd Company is hiring a Director, Strategic Sourcing (Global Director of Procurement - Transportation & Distribution). You will lead the global strategy and execution for Warehouse, Distribution, and Transportation procurement categories to deliver total cost of ownership improvements, service reliability, risk reduction, and sustainability outcomes. Partner with Supply Chain, Logistics and Finance to source and manage 3PL/4PL solutions, carrier portfolios, and material handling/service contracts.
What You'll Do
- Develop and manage 3–5-year category sourcing plans for transportation and distribution, identifying opportunities for cost savings, service improvement, and risk mitigation.
- Lead and mentor regional category procurement managers and analysts to achieve at least 3% annual productivity improvements on addressable spend.
- Drive strategic sourcing initiatives across all transportation modes (truckload, less-than-truckload, rail, ocean, air freight) and distribution services (small parcels, warehouse services, capital equipment, supplies).
- Oversee RFP development, supplier selection, and contract award processes.
- Negotiate global and regional contracts with transportation and distribution service providers, securing favorable terms, cost savings, and robust service level agreements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Leverage TMS/WMS data, freight audit & pay, and eProcurement tools to evaluate opportunities, identify trends, and support decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders—including supply chain, finance, and operations—to align procurement strategies with business needs and productivity targets.
- Stay informed of market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes affecting supply chains and logistics.
- Champion sustainability initiatives (Scope 3 logistics emissions) and foster diverse supplier development, embedding these values in procurement practices.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs).
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
- 10 Years of Relevant Experience.
- 6 Years of Demonstrated Leadership.
Nice to Have
- 10+ years of experience in Strategic Sourcing or Procurement, including 7+ years specializing in warehouse, distribution, and transportation categories.
- Strong commercial acumen, including RFx development, complex negotiations, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) modeling.
- Technical expertise with TMS/WMS platforms, e‑Procurement suites, and freight audit & pay systems.
- Risk & compliance experience, including supplier risk frameworks and business continuity planning.
- Sustainability & DEI focus, with understanding of Scope 3 logistics emissions and diverse supplier development initiatives.
- Education in supply chains, business, engineering, or related fields.
- Demonstrated executive presence, strong stakeholder alignment, and proven change leadership capabilities.
- Ability to foster strong relationships, both internally and externally.
- Strong analytical skills to influence budgeting and pricing options.
- Exceptional MS Excel skills, and other data analytics experience; confidence to present findings to business partners and executives.
